Vera Wang

Another one of my favorite designers is Vera Wang. She knows how to play-up simple clothing and make it look glamorous. For example, in her Spring 2010 show, Wang displayed a lot of LBD's (little black dresses), but played them up with unexpected mesh and statement necklaces, and voila! A totally plain black dress was suddenly transformed into a masterpiece of an outfit. I loved this look so much that I set out to find a similar dress and not surprisingly, I found the perfect dress at my favorite store, Target. I then added my own statement necklace and heels, adapting Vera Wang's runway look for (most likely) a fraction of the cost! As my mom and I always say, "Gotta love Target! *pronounced in a French accent-Tarjay* "

Carolina Herrera

One of my all time favorite  designers is Carolina Herrera. She's so creative with her use of worldly prints and textures, like in her Spring 2011 show. In this line, Herrera used the theme of of flowers, herbs, and gardening, with cute vintage tags hanging off of the flower pots as if someone had just bought the flowers from a nursery. I loved this look so much, that I set out to create it myself. I went to a hole-in-the-wall fabric store near my town, found the print I was looking for and bought just enough fabric to make a small accessory. With the help of an adult who knows how to make DIY (Do-It-Yourself) circle scarves, I created a circle scarf using the fabric. It turned out amazing and I can wear it all the time because it matches with just about everything...and whenever I wear it I get compliments on how unique the print is (thanks, Carolina Herrera!).

I copied the exact look, from the pink belt to the green
hat. However, I don't normally wear hats. To make the
look more young and casual, I wore it with my hair
down, as shown below.

PS, turns out I'm not the only one who loves Carolina Herrera. Herrera was hired to design the wedding gown that Bella  (Kristen Stewart) wears in Breaking Dawn! (Not that I like the movies, but I LOVE the books.) People Magazine reported that the dress cost approximately $35,000!!

Back To School

I went to Black Friday the morning after Thanksgiving and got great deals on all of this clothing. This is going to be my back-to-school outfit on Monday. I don't like when my outfits have one uniform style because it looks a bit typical and plain, which is why I like to mix styles. Here, I'm wearing a long flowy skirt and flowery shirt, which are toughened up by combat boots and the headband gives the outfit a hippie-type vibe.

Thanksgiving Dinner

This is what I'm wearing for Thanksgiving dinner. It's festive and funky, yet appropriate for a meal with my grandparents, cousins, siblings and my parents. Everybody wins! I'm wearing a dress I got in the summer, but made it more autumn-y by putting it with a sequin cardigan, tights and booties. And then of course the wide leather belt always gives an outfit more shape and compliments every body type.

Brunch In Soho

For my first day off on Thursday morning, I'm meeting my friend for brunch in Soho. I love the artsy and hipster atmosphere in this part of the city, and what better way to feel the atmosphere then by dressing the part? In this outfit I'm mixing three different styles together: tough, girly and preppy. The motorcycle sweater and combat boots are tough, while the lace-y blouse is girly and the plaid tights are preppy. The reason all of these styles look good together is because the colors coordinate.

About Me

When I was little, I used to dress up in the craziest outfits and my mom would never let me out of the house in them. Little did I know, this was the beginning of my passion for fashion in a search to find my own style. The search for my own unique style never stopped and ultimately evolved into a hobby. Over the years, my friends and family have asked me to help them put together outfits for different events, or take them on shopping expeditions to help them pick out just the right clothing that matches their personal style. I gave my fashion advice to anyone who would ask me, and now I have decided to share my advice and fashion tips with you guys! I named this blog after my two dogs, Charlie and Sylvia, who make me laugh, always look cute, and love me no matter what I’m wearing. In fact, Charlie and Sylvia have their own unique style.
